Full Spectrum Enzymes break down not only components of food but break down the cell walls of pathogenic organisms and biofilms formed by pathogenic colonies in the gut, and improve absorption of nutrients.
Full Spectrum Enzymes break down proteins (including gluten and casein), starches, carbohydrates, complex sugars, fats, cellulose, biofilms, and the cell walls of bacteria and yeast. Poorly or partially digested food can provide a breeding ground for pathogenic colonies in the intestinal tract. This revolutionary and comprehensive blend of enzymes breaks down not only food but helps to kill the pathogens and more completely breaks down food starches and sugars than other enzyme blends so they do not provide a source of food for pathogens.
Full Spectrum Enzymes are well tolerated by individuals with food sensitivities - there are no fruit or animal enzymes and it is free of maltodextrin which is commonly used in enzymes (and is derived from wheat, corn or rice).
The enzymes activate well in a broad range of PH in the intestinal tract (2 to 12) from acidic to alkaline.
The enzymes in Full Spectrum Enzymes include:

  • Amylases (amylase, alpha-amylase glucoamylase) break down starches and carbohydrates
  • Disaccharidases (lactase,sucrase/invertase and maltase) break complex sugars into simple sugars

Why Complete Digestion is Important for Neurological Function

Incompletely digested food can provide nourishment for pathogens, leading to an overgrowth of yeast (Candida) and large populations of pathogenic bacteria which can form colonies in the intestinal tract, crowding out beneficial probiotic organisms. Once established, pathogenic colonies form a protective layer of biofilm (like a layer of goo) that covers them and can render them resistant to antibiotic treatment.

These pathogenic colonies consume nutrients that should be going to nourish the body and brain, causing nutritional deficiencies, furthering maldigestion which results in the production of toxins in the gut. These toxins include ammonia, the opiods Gluteomorphin and Casomorphin, and Desomorphin. Desomorphin is found only in nature in poison dart frogs. These opiods can bind to receptor sites in the brain, interfering with neurological development and also inhibit the release of the hormones oxytocin and vasopressin. There is currently a study being funded by Autism Speaks to determine if a nasal spray containing Oxytocin will be of benefit to individuals on the autism spectrum - some preliminary research indicates there are an insufficiency of oxytocin receptor sites in the brains of autistic individuals and that inhaling oxytocin promotes improved ability to read other people, the desire to socialize, and empathy. Excessive levels of ammonia in the brain can trigger brain fog and cause neurological damage.

In addition to consuming nutrients that would otherwise would be available to nourish the body and brain and generating toxins, pathogenic colonies also damage the lining of the intestinal tract. This damage can prevent the intestinal tract from manufacturing Vitamin B12, which is critical for optimal neurological function and is deficient in most individuals within the autism spectrum. When food comes into direct contact with the inner lining of a damaged intestinal tract, the body's immune system reacts to food as an invader and creates an immune system response to the food that leads to food allergies. Biofilms also retain iron and heavy metals which can then pass through the intestinal lining, making their way to the brain.

Another impact of this intestinal maldigestion and intestinal colonization by pathogens is when the body is overwhelmed with toxins, the liver, the primary organ of detoxification, has to focus on detoxifying the intestinal tract and does not have sufficient resources left to detoxify the brain. The liver produces the molecule, Glutathione, the the most powerful antioxidant the body products, and the primary molecule from which heavy metals are removed. Virtually all individuals on the autism spectrum have a deficiency of Glutathione and this may because most of it is going to support the intestinal tract.

Dosage and Nutritional Facts

For an adult dose, two capsules may be swallowed or their contents opened and mixed into room temperature gluten and casein free drinks, smoothies, or food. To break down a biofilm, they are best taken on an empty stomach between meals or first thing in the morning. To break down gluten and casein as well as other foods, they are best taken just before a meal containing gluten or casein (although we advocate the gluten and casein free diet and avoiding foods containing these proteins all together). A two-capsule dose may be taken up to 3 times a day, or as directed by your licensed health care practioner.


Kosher-certified vegetarian capsules. A small amount ofL-leucine, a naturally occurring amino acid, is used.
