Research published in 2018 about a new blood test being used with accuracy to diagnose autism uses advanced glycation end products (AGEs) as a primary marker for autism. AGEs are toxic free-radical compounds that are created when excess glucose in the bloodstream bonds to tissues in the body and brain. (1)

Alzheimer's is now reclassified as Type 3 Diabetes of the brain.(2)   Insulin resistance of neurons and excess glucose in the brain results in damage to tissues in the brain and the formation of beta amyloid plaque. Beta amyloid plaque is also found in the brains of individuals with autism.(3)

The mechanism by which Anti-Glycation Support is believed to work is to shuttle sugar away from the fat cells and into the muscle by increasing GLUT 4 receptors.  This provides more energy for muscles and reduces the accumulation of fat, helping to prevent weight gain and increasing overall physical energy.*

Other products recommended to use with Anti-Glycation Support to protect against glycation include Liquid Chromium, Zinc, and Manganese.

Anti-Glycation Support also has anti-cancer properties.  Cancer cells feed on exclusively on glucose and reducing levels of glucose will reduce the food supply for cancer cells. 

AntiGlycation Support also supports the immune system by cutting off the food supply of glucose to pathogens in the body. including yeast (Candida). 

The two active ingredients in Anti-Glycation Support are Berberine and Banaba Leaf.


Berberine targets a very basic and ancient regulator of metabolism present in all animals and plants called AMP-activated protein kinase (AMPK). Increased AMPK activity explains why berberine has so many diverse benefits.*

For people with diabetes, AMPK activation: 

  • Stimulates the uptake of glucose into the cells
  • Improves insulin sensitivity
  • Reduces glucose production in the liver

For people with heart-related problems, AMPK activation:

  • Slows the release of free fatty acids, which lowers lipid levels and prevents harmful fat deposition
  • Boosts fat burning in the mitochondria
  • Stimulates the release o nitric oxide (NO), a signaling molecule that relaxes the arteries, increases blood flow and lowers blood pressure, and protects against atherosclerosis

In a clinical trial published in Metabolism, people with newly diagnosed type 2 diabetes were randomly divided into groups and assigned to take metformin (Glucophage) or berberine. Improvements were noted the very first week, and at the study’s conclusion, the average blood sugar and hemoglobin A1C levels significantly decreased in both groups. Remarkably, berberine helped fight diabetes every bit as effectively as metformin. The researchers concluded that the two had “identical effect[s] in the regulation of glucose metabolism.”

In a randomized, placebo-controlled trial, patients recently diagnosed with diabetes and cholesterol/triglyceride abnormalities but hadn’t yet started on medication took either 500 mg of berberine or a placebo capsule twice a day. After three months, berberine supplementation not only significantly lowered blood sugar but also triglycerides (35.9 percent), LDL cholesterol (21 percent), and total cholesterol (18 percent)—compared to minimal declines in cholesterol and an increase in triglycerides in the control group. Furthermore, the group taking berberine had lower blood pressure (average drop of 7/5 mm Hg systolic/diastolic) and modest weight and abdominal fat loss.

Banaba Leaf

The blood sugar regulating properties of corosolic acid, the active ingredient in banaba leaf, have been demonstrated in cell culture, animal, and human studies. In isolated cells, it is known to stimulate glucose uptake. In fact, some studies have shown that it can help lower blood sugar within sixty minutes. It has also been shown to help correct leptin problems and food cravings that are typically found in overweight individuals who have elevated blood sugar. The average human response is a 10-15% decrease in blood sugar within two hours of ingestion.*

In diabetic mice, rats, and rabbits, banaba feeding reduces elevated blood sugar and insulin levels to normal. In humans with type II diabetes, banaba extract, at a dose of 16-48 mg per day for 4-8 weeks, has been shown to be effective in reducing blood sugar levels 5%-30%) and maintaining tighter control of blood sugar fluctuations.

An interesting "side-effect" of tighter control of blood sugar and insulin levels is a significant tendency to promote weight loss (an average of 2-4 lbs. per month) – without significant dietary alterations. It is likely that modulation of glucose and insulin levels reduces total caloric intake somewhat and encourages moderate weight-loss.

Recommended Dose

1 capsule 1-3 times a day, not to exceed 3 capsules daily.  Take 1 capsule 15 minutes before carbohydrate containing meals.  Can take 2-3 capsules a day for two weeks to see results.  Results will vary.  Consult with your licensed knowledgeable health care practitioner before using any dietary supplement.
