Rhodiola (Rhodiola rosea) is indigenous to the Arctic and Alpine regions of Europe, Asia and America and has long been used as a tonic by many cultures, including the Ancient Greeks. Rhodiola is generally known as an adaptogen, a term which refers to any agent possessing the ability to increase the body's capacity to adapt to stressful conditions.* This standardized extract of min. 3% Total Rosavins and min. 1% Salidrosides is the highest potency of Rhodiola available. Over 140 compounds have been isolated from the roots and rhizome of Rhodiola - monoterpene alcohols and their glycosides, cyanogenic glycosides, aryl glycosides, phenylethanoids, phenylpropanoids and their glycosides, flavonoids, flavonlignans, proanthocyanidins and gallic acid derivatives.(1)*

Individuals within the autism spectrum tend to have higher than normal levels of cortisol glutamates in the brain. Glutamate excitoxicity may damage, stunt the growth of, and kill neurons. Research indicates the Rhodiola is neuroprotective when there are excessive levels of glutamates in the brain (2).

Other research indicates rhodiola also reduces levels of cortisol, is cardioprotective, supports endurance and mental alertness under conditions of fatigue, and provide support for anxiety and moderate depression. Traditionally Rhodiola has been used in conditions of fatigue, depression, and anxiety.(1)* Excessive levels of cortisol can disrupt sleep when levels rise during the night and contribute to anxiety.

Suggested Use
