Product Description

Phosphatidyl Serine SF contains a soy-free source of this important phospholipid derived from sunflower lecithin.  Phosphatidylserine is a phospholipid (phosphate-based fat) that is found in all cells, but is most highly concentrated in the walls (membranes) of brain cells, making up about 70% of its nerve tissue mass. There it aids in the storage, release and activity of many vital neurotransmitters and their receptors. Phosphatidylserine also aids in cell-to-cell communication.  Phosphatidylserine is involved in the upkeep and restoration of nerve cell membranes.

Phosphatidylserine supports:

  • memory
  • lower cortisol levels
  • ADD/ADHD symptoms
  • Alzheimer's
  • increased endurance in athletic performance

Phosphatidylserine can cross the blood-brain barrier easily.  Once this happens, it binds with neurotransmitter and enables the brain to metabolize glucose more efficiently.  It also heightens communication between brain cells, helping damaged neurons to work more efficiently.  These neurons can then be repaired and send messages at a faster rate.  Phosphatidylserine also enables the brain to more easily restore its supply the neurotransmitter, Acetylcholine (needed for learning and memory), stimulates the release of more Dopamine (a mood regulator that also control physical sensations, and movement), enhances brain glucose metabolism (the fuel used for brain activity), prevents beta amyloid placque from accumulating (which occurs in Alzheimers), reduces cortisol levels (a stress hormone), and boosts the activity of nerve growth factor (NGF), which oversees the health of cholinergic neurons.  Glucose intolerance is believed to be a primary cause of Alzheimer's.

A primary benefit of Phosphatidylserine is that it will work to boost memory and overall cognition. This also includes an expansion of learning capacity and even an improved speed of memory recall in many cases.  Phosphatidylserine can also be support neurological repair in those who have experienced head trauma, stroke, heavy alcohol use or substance abuse.

Due to the increase in Dopamine production it is also quite likely to be responsible for inducing an overall feeling of well-being and improving one’s mood in general. The Dopamine has even been shown essential to memory, attention, and problem solving abilities.

Research has shown that dietary supplementation with phosphatidylserine can slow and even reverse the decline of learning, mood, memory, concentration, word recall related to dementia or age-related cognitive impairment in middle-aged and elderly subjects.  It also is believed to support optimizing neurological development in children, and support optimal neurological function in individuals of all ages.

Phosphatidylserine is involved in the upkeep and restoration of nerve cell membranes. Among its list of functions, phosphatidylserine stimulates the release of Dopamine (a mood regulator that also control physical sensations, and movement), increases the production of Acetylcholine (necessary for learning and memory), enhances brain glucose metabolism (the fuel used for brain activity), reduces cortisol levels (a stress hormone), and boosts the activity of nerve growth factor (NGF), which oversees the health of neurons that primarily use the neurotransmitter, acetylcholine, to send messages.  Research has shown that dietary supplementation with phosphatidylserine can slow and even reverse the decline of learning, mood, memory, concentration, word recall related to dementia or age-related cognitive impairment in middle-aged and elderly subjects.  In Alzheimer's disease, phosphatidylserine has been said to influence changes in the brain that can help alleviate the symptoms of senile dementia related to this disease, such as increasing acetylcholine availability and significantly enhancing brain glucose metabolism.
