| The Do IT Bumper Pack includes
10 literacy, 12 math,14 design and 4 problem-solving
activities - a great value for the money! DoIT
introduces basic reading and math concepts as well as design and
problem solving in a highly visual format.
DoIT Literacy
Do IT Literacy provides structured practice with key literacy
skills. There are 10 activities, each available at several levels.
|
| DoIT Numeracy
The Do IT Numeracy Pack provides structured practice at key
basic number skills. It's quick to learn, easy to use, and clearly
focused on key skills. Handy for individual and group
demonstrations, e.g. how an abacus or number square works. There
are 12 different activities, each available at several levels.
I really like the way this section visually introduces basic math
concepts about addition, subtraction, multiplication, and
division.
As an aside, children who have severe
difficulty with basic math sometimes also have a core
underlying difficulty in visualization (sometimes reflected in difficulty in
drawing pictures). If you can't picture
the number of units you are manipulating and picture them being
manipulated, you are not going to have an optimal cognitive
framework for storing and retrieving of basic math facts. Some researchers speculate
that the reason that people who come from cultures that use the
abacus tend to excel in math is because the abacus visually and
concretely reinforces manipulation of units. By showing children how
numbers add up in a
highly concrete fashion, DoIt helps to reinforce the
visualization of math that is critical to establishment a solid
foundation for math learning.

| DoIT Design
Do IT Design offers a unique mix of easy-to-use
design and math activities — fourteen in all. Encourages visual
discrimination, comparison, and discussion, and helps children of
all ages create, and print, something really worthwhile! The
face design activity may be used to teach about describing
characteristics of faces.

| DoIT Problems

practice with key problem-solving skills. There are four
activities, each available at four different levels.
